Brushes with History: Inspiring the Personality of Frederick features the works of a few of the most notable artists who have worked in Frederick County. With beautiful paintings of the County’s landmarks and natural splendor, our story explores the ways in which the visual arts provided economic opportunity to individuals and communities. As we admire their talents captured on canvas, porcelain, metalware, and other media, we celebrate the role these artists have played in shaping our communities both past and present.

Special Father’s Day Walking Tour
Want Something Special to Do on Father’s Day?
How about a unique walking tour of Frederick? Many interesting and notable events occurred over the course of Frederick County’s 300-year history. So many, in fact, that Heritage Frederick is not able to cover them all as part of our regular weekly tours. Therefore, we are offering this one-time opportunity on Sunday, June 16. For example, you will learn how two of America’s most revered founding fathers met for the very first time right here in humble Frederick Towne.
Digital History Library
With the generous support of Don Linton, Heritage Frederick is excited to share our new Digital History Library. Browse works on local history, notable figures, and historic architecture for free. Current offerings in the Digital History Library include books exploring the revitalization of Downtown Frederick, a survey of eighteenth and nineteenth century houses around Frederick County, and a biography of Charles V. Main, former Chief of the Frederick City Police Department, among others.
