Heritage Frederick’s Upcoming Events

March 1 – December 14, 2024

Brushes with History: Inspiring the Personality of Frederick features the works of a few of the most notable artists who have worked in Frederick County. With beautiful paintings of the County’s landmarks and natural splendor, our story explores the ways in which the visual arts provided economic opportunity to individuals and communities. As we admire their talents captured on canvas, porcelain, metalware, and other media, we celebrate the role these artists have played in shaping our communities both past and present.

Heritage Frederick has display in ACNB Bank Community Window

We are excited to once again have a display in ACNB Bank’s Community Window for the month of May! Our display features historic photographs of the Square Corner, the crossroads of Frederick’s history. Stop by and check out these incredible photographs of the historic architecture and transformation of the Square Corner as well as some of the many gatherings that have taken place here. After you have seen this display, visit the Museum of Frederick County History to see many more photographs from our archives on display.
Our window display will be on view until the end of the month and we thank ACNB Bank for this opportunity to share our county’s history. The window display is located at 2 North Market Street.

Special Father’s Day Walking Tour

Want Something Special to Do on Father’s Day?

How about a unique walking tour of Frederick?  Many interesting and notable events occurred over the course of Frederick County’s 300-year history. So many, in fact, that Heritage Frederick is not able to cover them all as part of our regular weekly tours. Therefore, we are offering this one-time opportunity on Sunday, June 16. For example, you will learn how two of America’s most revered founding fathers met for the very first time right here in humble Frederick Towne.

Digital History Library

With the generous support of Don Linton, Heritage Frederick is excited to share our new Digital History Library. Browse works on local history, notable figures, and historic architecture for free. Current offerings in the Digital History Library include books exploring the revitalization of Downtown Frederick, a survey of eighteenth and nineteenth century houses around Frederick County, and a biography of Charles V. Main, former Chief of the Frederick City Police Department, among others.
