Protecting the American Public From Biological Threats

Associate Laboratory Director – Job Opening

NBACC’s purpose is to protect our nation from potential biological threats or risks through the use of state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment. With that being said, BNBI has an opening for an Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) for our National Biological Threat Characterization Center (NBTCC)! This individual will serve as a member of the NBACC Leadership Team with leadership and management accountability for strategic direction and execution of one of the NBACC programmatic/scientific Centers (NBTCC). The ALD is expected to be a national-level contributor to biodefense and to maintain effective interactions with U.S. government stakeholders including DHS, Defense, Justice, and Health and Human Services, with the Intelligence Community, and with technical experts in industry, academia, and the U.S. government. The NBACC is one out of only 13 laboratories within the United States that offers a BSL-4, so a role like this is very difficult to come across. If you or someone you know is interested, please apply on our career page.

The National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center.

Since the inception of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC) has developed the science critical to defend the United States against bioterrorism. Managed by Battelle National Biodefense Institute (BNBI) as a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), NBACC is the first laboratory built for DHS – a national resource to understand the scientific basis of the risk posed by biological threats and to attribute their use in bioterror and biocrime events.
