SESSION DESCRIPTIONS General Session 1 Utility Content: Your Rocket Fuel for Success by Jon-Mikel Bailey What you'll learn: How to use Utility Content to boost your online presence and maximize your online marketing success! About Jon: Before co-founding Wood Street in 2002, Jon worked in sales, marketing, and business development for technology and marketing firms. A popular speaker, he gives seminars on marketing, internet marketing, branding, web, and graphic design to chambers of commerce, trade associations, and colleges. He has a BFA in Fine Art in Photography from Frostburg State University and still shoots photos for Wood Street clients. Morning Breakout Sessions (Select One to Attend) (1) Video for Social Media by Whitney Hahn What you'll learn: Discover how to optimize your video marketing efforts through social media, including Facebook, Vine, Instagram, Twitter, and Google Hangouts. Plus, learn how to effortlessly integrate video marketing offline in business presentations, trade shows, and print campaigns. About Whitney: Whitney co-founded Digital Bard in Frederick, MD in 2004. Her video production creativity has been recognized in several national awards competitions including the ADDY Awards, Telly Awards, Parent’s Choice Awards and Communicator Awards. (2) Medal Winning Copy for Social Media by Cyd Maubert What you'll learn: Bring home the Gold from this session by training for peak performance with copywriting in digital environments. Warm up by brainstorming where to get fresh content ideas and how to build a content calendar. Training progresses by discussing the importance of targeting; three simple ideas to help your content go viral; and how to structure written content for a digital environment. The session concludes with the opportunity to practice your new skills by drafting your own social media copy to take away! If you have ever struggled with getting started, this training session is for you! About Cyd Maubert: A professor at Mount St. Mary's University, Cyd teaches new tools such as social media. Cyd promotes that an integrated marketing strategy will help an organization deliver upon its mission and achieve its goals. (3) Insights into Action: Using customer data to drive marketing by Tobin Lehman What you'll learn: Tobin will help uncover the tools and resources you need to get started turning your data insights into powerful marketing action. About Tobin: Tobin is the president and founder of New North. He has lectured at American University and Shepherd University and has spoken to various associations on the power of digital marketing and customer retention. Afternoon Breakout Sessions (Select One to Attend) (1) Blog This, Not That by Michelle Kershner and Brittany Diehl What you'll learn: This presentation will outline strategies for engaging the blogger community, hosting a successful blogger event, and measuring success. The presentation will discuss leveraging resources, repurposing and integrating content, and how to make the most out of your user generated content. About Michelle and Brittany: Michelle has been in the marketing and communication field for over fifteen years, and currently manages social media outreach, public relations, marketing programs, and content development for various aspects of the Tourism Council of Frederick County. Brittany is the Promotion & Social Media Manager for the Downtown Frederick Partnership. She plans, implements and markets Downtown Frederick Partnership events and manages the Partnership's social media outlets and web page. (2) Google Integration by Monica Spilman What you'll learn: Google+ Local is the latest hybrid of many of Google’s services aimed and helping users find great local business. Rolled out in May of 2013, Google+ Local allows verified owners to merge existing Google Places, Google+ Business Pages, reviews, photos, YouTube channels and much more into one convenient location that can be found via Google Search, Maps or Google+ About Monica: Monica Spilman is the Senior Internet Marketer at 270net Technologies of Frederick. She stays on top of all things related to the ever-changing digital marketing field including SEO, email marketing, social media marketing, online reputation management, and pay-per-click campaigns, and assists 20+ local businesses do the same. (3) Advanced Twitter by Mayra Ruiz-McPherson What you'll learn: This session will scrape well below the surface and immerse attendees in topics such as advertising on Twitter (will cover numerous options), all about Vine (video sharing), Twitter cards (what are they and why should you care), Twitter analytics and tools to extend the Twitter experience. About Mayra: Mayra is a longtime marketing strategist often retained by clients and organizations to assist them in all aspects of digital and social media marketing and outreach General Session 2 Digital Detox by Beth Schillaci What you'll learn: - How to evaluate which social media tools and strategies are working for the company. - How to take care of your "home base" and integrate all your marketing efforts. - How to avoid shiny object syndrome and make the best decisions for your business. - How to unplug to focus and grow your business. About Beth: Beth is the founder of VillageWorks Communications, Inc. a 14 year old marketing company specializing in Internet technologies. She was named one of the 25 CEOs to Know in 2010 by Gazette Business and Politics. She is the author of Your Social Media Roadmap, which provides small businesses with her successful framework for implementing a digital strategy.
