CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS LUNCH SERIES
Advanced Directives: The impact of terminal illness in the workplace
As our workforce evolves, employees are faced with important personal decisions that affect their engagement at work. Helping employees find resources quickly can keep the employee focused on work. In this series, "Crucial Conversations," we're introducing topics that may be beyond the "normal" scope of employee benefits and support. This is designed to give business owners and HR professionals more information about community services available to everyone.
Don’t want to talk about dying? Think this whole “conversation” thing is rather morbid? Don’t worry! You’re not alone. No doubt it’s a difficult talk to have, but it is vitally important.
Most companies consider advanced illness to be a private matter. But in fact, this hands-off approach most assuredly affects the financial health of any organization – and the emotional well-being of its workforce. Encouraging employees to complete an advance directive form is one simple step companies can take to help employees prepare to cope with advanced illness. According to many employee surveys, employees appreciate this recognition of reality.
Come learn how you can incorporate the appropriate tools as part of your health and wellness offerings. Many people find that beginning is the hardest part. But once you’ve had the conversation, the next steps—putting it on paper and continuing to talk—are actually pretty easy. And really important. Join the conversation as the Business Health Lunch Series presents, Advanced Directives.
This tough, but important topic, will be presented by Jackie Dinterman, LBSW, Manager, Care Management--Frederick Regional Health System.
