Our primary mission is to end Veteran suicide through the successful transition of service members and their families by assembling critical resources, providing peer support, and developing successful programs. By identifying barriers to successful transition and offering upstream suicide prevention our team is focused on effectively combating the problem of suicide among Veterans. The link between suicide and trauma survivors is greatly elevated, which is why the Veteran population outpaces civilian peers in suicide. The United States has lost more Service Members and Veterans to suicide than in the Iraq and Afghanistan War. The military does an outstanding job turning civilians into warfighters, but the same cannot be said true about the transition from active duty to civilian life. Direct programming includes various healing program modalities, case management, assistance with mortgage/rent, transportation services, laundry/shower opportunities and suicide prevention community training. By offering diverse programs and services, Platoon 22 can assist in that transition. We offer a comprehensive and holistic strategy across various healing modalities to meet the Veteran where they are today and help navigate to the desired tomorrow. Programs we currently offer include care coordination, financial assistance, recreation, peer support, and serving as the daily operator for the Platoon Veteran Services Center.
