About us
Our Mission: The HealthWell Foundation reduces financial barriers to care for underinsured patients with chronic or life-altering diseases. About Us: Founded in 2003, the HealthWell Foundation (www.healthwellfoundation.org) is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing financial assistance to insured patients living with chronic and life-altering illnesses to help them afford their medical treatments. For many Americans, having health insurance does not mean being able to afford the critical medical treatments they desperately need. When health insurance is not enough, HealthWell assists in closing the gap. Thanks to our health care partners and generous corporate and individual donors, every day, we put life-saving medications within reach for hundreds of patients in need living with chronic and life-altering illnesses. We help pay their share of prescription drug copayments, deductibles, and health insurance premiums for important medical treatments. As patients are required to pay a larger share of health care costs each year, out-of-pocket expenses for essential medications can add up to hundreds or thousands of dollars a month - much more than many people earn. By reducing this financial stress, the people we serve can focus on what's most important - their health. Since inception, HealthWell has assisted more than 500,000 people with more than $1.67 billion in patient grants across 70 disease areas. All administrative and fundraising costs are financed by HealthWell, and 100% of donations fund patient grants and services. This May, during Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, it’s crucial to spotlight a startling fact: bladder cancer is the 7th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, yet it remains shrouded in silence. Too many of us are unaware of its prevalence and the impact it has on thousands of lives each year. In raising our voices, we can break the silence around bladder cancer. Let’s spread the word, educate ourselves, and share this critical information with someone we love. Awareness is the first step toward change, and by informing others, we contribute to a future where early detection and support are readily available for everyone affected. #BladderCancerAwarenessMonth #BCAM #SpreadTheWord #AwarenessSavesLives Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network

Catherine was on a very tight budget and couldn't afford the copays for her medications, so she didn't get them. She was able to get samples when her doctor had some available, but she would only use them once a day instead of twice a day to make them last longer. Because she wasn't taking her meds properly, Catherine was getting sick often and coughing all the time. Her employer wasn't happy that she was sick so often. Catherine’s mom, who was on a fixed income, started paying for Catherine’s meds. Catherine hated that her mom was paying for her meds, but her mom insisted because she was worried about her daughter’s health and her job. Catherine was desperate to find a way to pay for her meds without her mom's help and searched the internet until she found HealthWell Foundation. “I got the approval letter while my mom was visiting, and we were both so excited! You've not only helped me, but you have also helped my mom. I can't say thank you enough!” Do you have a HealthWell story you'd like to share? We'd love to hear from you!
