Partnering with nonprofit leaders to increase supporter engagement through longer-term relationships that deliver more money, time, and leadership for their cause
Nonprofit leaders, burnout is real. So is donor fatigue. Here’s what you can do about it. You know you can’t give 💯 to your social service mission 100% of the time . Neither can your donors, volunteers, advocates, or even Board members. Everyone needs to step back at times in order to continue stepping up. When you offer a range of ways to participate, your supporters will stick around for the long-term. Sounds obvious? Sure… but are you doing it?! Do you have a variety of “asks” so your supporters can sometimes 💲💲 make a gift (big or small), ⏳⌛ volunteer time (easy one-offs or larger time/skill commitment), or ✅🦸🏼 advocate (click a button or serve as ambassador)? Here’s my story of supporter engagement – I volunteer with Moms Demand Action in my town. Last year after attending my first meeting I signed up to help at Town Day. I didn’t know much but I knew I could stand at a table and tell others about our advocacy work. After attending several monthly meetings, the Chapter President asked me to lead a committee. I let her know I didn’t have time to be the Lead but I’d be happy to help. So now I give presentations at one-off local events on an as-needed basis. ✅I am passionate about the cause. ✅I have lots of leadership skills to offer. And, ❌I don’t have tons of time. ✨They are engaging me at the level of commitment I can give at this time. As a result, they have a long-term supporter (me!) willing to give more when I’m able.
