Leading Through the Storm: Crisis Communication for Community Leaders
When crisis strikes, strong leadership makes all the difference. On October 7th, join Leadership Frederick County Alumni for an engaging and interactive workshop on leadership through crisis.
This session, facilitated by Jason Deater with the Mid-Atlantic Center for Emergency Management & Public Safety, will explore best practices and approaches for leaders across all sectors–nonprofits, businesses, and public agencies–when responding to emergency situations.
Attendees will:
- Gain tools to communicate and coordinate effectively in times of crisis
- Strengthen decision-making skills under pressure
- Learn strategies to balance clarity, empathy, and confidence with stakeholders
- Explore how collaboration can stabilize urgent situations
But this won’t be just a lecture! Alumni will work in small breakout groups, tackling real-life crisis scenarios like sudden leadership departures, loss of funding, and even natural disasters. Each group will craft a response plan and share strategies with peers, ensuring practical takeaways you can bring back to your leadership role.
If you’re an LFC Alumni, don’t miss this opportunity to sharpen your crisis leadership skills, expand your perspective, and be better prepared for the unexpected.
Snacks will be provided. You must be an LFC Alumni to attend this event. No walk-ups will be permitted for this event, you must be registered to attend.
