Building a Community Around Your Brand
Presented by Sass Magazine in collaboration with the Women in Business Committee, this Lunch & Learn will explore how women entrepreneurs and professionals can build meaningful communities around their brands that go far beyond promotion. Grounded in the idea that every woman in business is already part of powerful personal and professional networks, this session will help attendees think more intentionally about who they serve, how they want people to engage with their work, and what makes someone feel like they truly belong. Together, we will explore audience, mission, team culture, customer involvement, and social media, with a focus on transforming passive followers into supportive communities that connect, collaborate, and champion what you do.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the key components of a brand community by defining your audience, mission, and the personal or professional communities that already influence your business.
- Evaluate strategies for fostering meaningful engagement with team members and customers, including ways to involve them as contributors, ambassadors, and partners in the brand experience.
- Develop practical ideas for building community around your brand, using events, social media, and other engagement opportunities to turn passive audiences into active participants and advocates.

Kim Dow is an entrepreneur at heart. Over the past 15+ years, she has combined her creative spirit with her drive to empower women and her love of animals to start three award-winning businesses.
In 2015, without any publishing experience or financial backing, Kim launched Sass Magazine, a women's lifestyle and professional publication that celebrates everyday women doing extraordinary things. With both a regional printed magazine as well as a nationally-based website, Sass Magazine serves up articles on a variety of topics such as career, wellness, travel, style, beauty, home, and more, as well as special feature articles spotlighting female entrepreneurs. Sass also hosts several popular events throughout the year and recently launched a Sass VIP Mastermind Society for female founders and business owners.
When not at work, Kim can be found hanging out at home with her husband and high school sweetheart, Jimmy, who is a math teacher by day and a fisherman by weekend. They share their home with their rescued animals; a pitbull named Jax and a cat named Maizie. In her spare time, Kim enjoys reading, traveling, exploring craft breweries, and gardening.
