The countdown to the Maryland Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Act is officially underway. With the Declaration of Intent closing on November 15th,  mandatory payroll contributions begin January 1, 2027, and benefits starting in 2028, Maryland businesses must act now to ensure compliance and avoid costly legal pitfalls.

Join us for a critical compliance review led by Darla McClure, a leading employment law attorney and Partner at Stein Sperling. Darla will break down the complex legal nuances of the FAMLI Act and provide a step-by-step roadmap to get your organization ready for the upcoming deadlines.

    What We Will Cover:

    • The 2027 Timeline & Financial Impact: Clarifying the 0.90% total premium and the 50/50 cost split (0.45% each) for employers and employees.
    • State Plan vs. Private Plan: How to evaluate whether your business should utilize the default State Plan or opt-out using equivalent private/commercial insurance.
    • Portal Registration & Reporting: Navigating the mandatory FAMLI Division portal, assigning third-party access, and handling critical quarterly hour tracking.
    • Job Protection & Employer Mandates: Managing the legal requirements of holding employee positions, maintaining health benefits, and handling benefit accruals during leave.

    Who Should Attend?

This session is designed specifically for Business Owners, CEOs, CFOs, HR Professionals, and Payroll Administrators operating in the state of Maryland.
